April 28 – April 30 2016 | Hotel Del Sol
3100 Webster Street, San Francisco

stARTup Art Fair is pleased to announce the third iteration of stARTup San Francisco. From April 28-30, 2017, collectors, press, curators, and art lovers are invited to shed their preconceived notions of what an art fair is, and to immerse themselves in the raw environments of the artists’ unfiltered worlds. Experience contemporary art in a way that is uniquely personal and lively — via stARTup’s unprecedented access to the artists themselves.

Representing multiple mediums, and a 3:1 female to male artist ratio, we will have 52 independent artists occupying 47 rooms of the hotel hailing from San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Arizona, Florida, and even Bogota, Colombia.

In addition to the selected artists, will have work on view from its local arts nonprofit partners: Root Division, Drawbridge, ArtSpan, Embark Gallery, San Jose ICA, 3.9 Collective and the Asian American Women Artist Association. There will also be 8 fascinating panel discussions programmed in our Art Conversations room that take place on Saturday and Sunday of the fair.

The hotel grounds will also be host to a diverse number of installations by Hunter Franks and t.w.five, sculpture by Hybycozo and Matt Gil, individual performances by the former SF Ballet dancer, Damian Smith and a Taiko drumming piece by AAWA, as well as a performance series curated by Embark Gallery.

Artists were selected in a blind-jury process by the members of the Selection Committee: Jonas Almgren, CEO,, Trish Bransten, Director, Rena Bransten Gallery, San Francisco, Christine Duval Independent Curator, Principal, Duval Contemporary, Amy Ellingson, San Francisco-based artist, Max Presneill, Director/Curator, Torrance Art Museum, Catherine Wagner, San Francisco-based artist

This year stARTup Art Fair is proud to announce Root Division as its beneficiary organization, receiving fifty percent of all ticket sales.
