Axis Gallery is pleased to have Jenny Gheith, assistant curator of painting and sculpture at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, as juror for the 9th National Juried Exhibition. The exhibition will be August 2nd through 24th with a second Saturday reception on August 9th from 6 until 9pm. Due date for entries is May 24th. All contemporary original 2D and 3D work in any media is accepted. Axis Gallery is moving to a larger space and able to accommodate larger work than in previous competition shows. Please see the prospectus for details. There are cash awards, an exhibition catalogue, and an invitational exhibition at Axis Gallery in December, 2014.

Juror: Jenny Gheith
Jenny Gheith is assistant curator of painting and sculpture at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), where she organized New Work: Alessandro Pessoli and was cocurator for the 2012 SECA Art Award and Project Los Altos: SFMOMA in Silicon Valley. Previously she was program director for the Society for Contemporary Art and curatorial assistant at the Art Institute of Chicago where she coordinated exhibitions with artists James Bishop, Mel Bochner, Monica Bonvicini, Vincent Fecteau, Jana Gunstheimer, Richard Hawkins, Gulnara Kasmalieva and Muratbek Djumaliev, William Pope.L, and Mario Ybarra Jr. She has contributed essays and film reviews to national and international publications and has taught at the California College of the Arts and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Eligibility & Medium
– Open to artists residing in the U.S.
– Contemporary original 2D and 3D work in any media including painting, prints, drawings, photography and digital images.
– 2D work should not exceed a framed size of 48” in the longest dimension.
– 3D work is limited to 36” and not more than 60 lbs.
– All work must be original (no reproductions), produced within the last two years and not previously shown at Axis Gallery.

Entry Fee
$35 for three, additional entries $5.00 each, limit 6.

Cash awards and selected artists invited to exhibit at Axis Gallery in December, 2014.

– Sales are encouraged. The gallery will retain 40% commission on any work sold.
– Price of work should include commission to gallery.

Insurance & Liability
– Work will be insured at Axis Gallery but not in transit.
– The gallery will not assume responsibility for work improperly framed or poorly packaged for shipping.
– Images of accepted work may be used for promotional purposes and featured in an exhibition catalogue.
